Lucky Star

A Starred Tortoise (Geochelone elegans) young one at Chinnar. In Kerala, this species is observed only in Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, Idukki district where their preferred habitat, the thorny scrub jungles occur. They are found in abundance in parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, from where they are captured illegally and exported to Europe or South-east Asia where they are highly valued as pets.

Count my teeth... if u dare!

A Bonnet Macaque (Macaca radiata) showing-off his teeth at Kodaikanal. This is the most common primate (other than Man himself) in southern India.

Yellow on the grass

One-spot Grass Yellow (Eurema andersoni)  from Tholpetty, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala. Captured this guy on film from the bushes near the Unniyappakkada junction where the road bisects, left towards Thirunelli and the right one going on towards Kutta and beyond to farther regions of Coorg.
